Every year, the Quebec version of YMCA honors individuals and groups that have contributed, through their actions and dedication to make their community, their country or the whole world a more peaceful place. Individuals or organizations that are honored are from all backgrounds and all walks of life: artists, volunteers, community workers, support groups etc. Each winner will receive a cash prize of $1,000, which is to be forwarded to a charity of their choice.
It has been just announced that the recipients of this year’s honorary medal – a part of the “Médailles de la paix” – Peace Medals (an honor to the International Day of Peace) – will be presented on November 21st to Simple Plan. The members of the band will be receiving this medal for their on-going charitable efforts, for which they’ve established the Simple Plan Foundation in 2005.
