It’s feels like forever, but after over a month of downtime, the members of Simple Plan will finally unite again in one week, when they are scheduled to appear on their first show this August – back in Canada (Jeudis Centre-Ville in La Tuque, QC on August 10th). First, the guys have two festival appearances in Canada on their schedules and after then they will return with their No Pads, No Helmets… Just Balls tour to the United States, which will later continue in Canada in September. Overall, the next two months will be very busy for Simple Plan and we can look forward to six full weeks of “tour news” before they get another short break.
As of right now, we are still waiting for any official confirmation whether David would be joining the rest of the band on this tour [read more about his absence on the past tours here]. However, on August 12th, Simple Plan will be performing in David’s hometown Matane for the first time in their career and unless anything’s changed, the organizers of this festival are expecting David to be back with SP by then. The last time we saw David with SP was back in April at the last show of the first U.S. tour of 2017 (San Diego, CA, April 18th).
Whether David will be back on tour with SP or not, there are other things we’re 100% sure about. The fans can expect the band to perform their entire first record from top to bottom and also some other fan-favorites in the encore [remind yourselves of the No Pads tour setlist here]. There’s still the question of whether they may incorporate more “No Pads” era songs into the setlist (such as Vacation), or whether they will change some songs in the encore. For that we’ll have to wait for the first No Pads show to roll up.
Simple Plan are also bringing some amazing opening bands with them on the North American tour: in the U.S., they will be accompanied by Set It Off, Patent Pending and The Bottom Line and Canada can look forward to Selfish Things, Courage My Love and The Bottom Line as well. And if you’d like to meet SP, don’t forget that the VIP pizza parties are available for each of the concert dates.
