ARTISTS AGAINST BULLYING

Organization: Kids Help Phone
Launch: 2012
Purpose of the campaign: Pierre Bouvier, LIGHTS, Jacob Hoggard, Fefe Dobson, Kardinal Official, Alyssa Reid and Walk Off The Earth joined to create a new rendition of Cindy Laupner’s song “True Colors” to raise awareness about bullying and cyberbullying.

CAMPAIGN FOR CENTRAIDE

Organization: Centraide
Launch: 2011
Purpose of the campaign: “We help each other because underneath, we’re all the same.” The purpose of the campaign was to show personalities in their simpliest form – without clothes, in order to show that human beings are all the same: they are all beautiful, but also vulnerable, regardless of age, origin or social status. And by exposing themselves in this vulnerable position, they recall all the important challenges that poor people have to face every day.

CAMPAIGN TO HELP VICTIMS OF THE EARTHQUAKE IN JAPAN

Organization: Japanese Red Cross
Launch: 2011
Purpose of the campaign: Financially help the victims of the earthquake in Japan that occured in 2011 by selling special Japanese-themed Simple Plan t-shirts that include the hashtag #helpjapan.

YOUNG ARTISTS FOR HAITI

Organisation: Young Artists For Haiti
Launch: 2010
Purpose of the campaign: The charitable single “Wavin’ Flag” (by K’Naan) has been created thanks to a collaboration of many young Canadian artists in order to support the victims of the earthquake on Haiti (in 2010) financially by selling the single, the music video and related merch.
Example: Pierre Bouvier was one of the Canadian artists who appears in the song and also in the music video.

ONE BRICK AT A TIME

Organization: War Child
Launch: 2008
Purpose of the capaign: The charitable organisation War Child has for many years now been helping children (and their families) from war-torn countries – most notably in the central Africa. For example by selling special leather bracelets or wallets in cooperation with Simple Plan, the organisation was able to build already a couple of schools for the children of Congo.

DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE

Organization: Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD)
Launch: 2005
Purpose of the campaign: Point out the possible catastrophic impacts of drunk-driving.
Illustration: The first time Simple Plan got involved with this campaign was in 2005 when they released a music video for their song “Untitled”, that shows how a drunk-related car accident can have huge impacts on the lives of the family and close friends. The band has been supporting the campaign even in the following years, for instance by a video message with Lindsay Lohan or by audio messages for a similar campaign (RADD) in Australia.

MAKE POVERTY HISTORY

Organization: Global Call to Action Against Poverty
Launch: 2005
Purpose of the campaign: To create a world without poverty. This campaign has been (for many years) using the faces of well-known personalities from the world of music, film and other arts, in order to spread the word about the fact that every second a child dies as a result of extreme poverty.

CAMPAIGN FOR PETA2

Organization: Peta2
Launch: 2003
Purpose of the campaign: „Fur on your collar is blood on your hands. Don’t buy fur trim.“ The Peta2 campaign is trying to raise awareness about the fact that a lot of clothing is made of real fur – that is of real animals, who are being killed for these purposes, and this organisation is trying to make these practises illegal.
