Simple Plan working on a special surprise for Japanese fans

As of the last couple of weeks, Pierre and Chuck have been stuck at the Chalice Recording Studios and most recently at Atlantic Records Studios in Los Angeles writing and recording new songs for the upcoming EP that should be released by the end of this year.

But according to the latest tweet from Chuck, apart from the EP, the guys have been also working on a special project for the Japanese fans. Chuck didn’t add any more information on this, but if we put two and two together, we might be able to figure it out on our own.

My colleagues over at SPB.com recently came across news that Simple Plan will be releasing a special Get Your Heart On! (Tour Edition) version of their latest album in Japan. The release date is set for March 27th 2013.

This is not the first time a “tour edition” of some of their records have been released only for a specific market. A couple years ago, their second album “Still Not Getting Any” was also available in a tour edition, offering the fans new acoustic tracks and also never-seen-before footage on a DVD.

And since the guys are currently in the studio working on this project, we can assume that the Get Your Heart On! (Tour Edition) might even include either some new versions of the songs that we already know or even some extra unreleased songs.

French-Canadian deluxe edition of “Get Your Heart On!” is out!

On July 17th, Simple Plan have re-released their latest album “Get Your Heart On!” in the French-speaking territories – that is mostly France and Canada – but this time with the version of the album that is considered to be deluxe (as mentioned in the post a couple weeks ago).

In comparison to the regular version of the album, this deluxe version includes the French version of Jet Lag and 3 versions of Summer Paradise: one feat. K’Naan, one feat. Sean Paul and then the French one feat. Sean Paul.

Although according to Sab, the French version of Summer Paradise that is featured on this deluxe version of the album is different from the one that we are used to as some of the lyrics have been changed. For example “Dehors la neige ne cesse de tomber” is replaced by “Le froid s’en prend à Montreal”.

Here you can check out the full tracklisting of this deluxe version of “Get Your Heart On!”, which is available for purchase for example via Archambault.ca :

Simple Plan to record new material in July

It’s been known for a couple of months now that Simple Plan will be releasing a book, a DVD and an EP by the end of this year. Let’s concentrate on the EP for a while now. So far we know that it should include about 6 or 7 songs that Simple Plan wrote for the 4th record (Get Your Heart On!) but they didn’t make it to the final cut.

In total, Simple Plan wrote about 70 songs for GYHO and recorded only about 15, while the rest of the songs is still waiting to be recorded someday. Yet the guys do have demo versions of all of these songs.

In an interview for the Australian radio station Hot Tomato David and Jeff mentioned that the band would like to go and record a couple of these songs for their EP already in July, on their days off in between the Canadian festivals that they have planned for summer. “For the last record, we actually wrote 70 songs, so there’s a lot of songs lying around that are still, you know, they need to be recorded. Some of them are really really good (…). And we’re actually planning on recording some new material in July,” said Jeff Stinco in the interview.

And to top that, Jeff and David also revealed to the reporter of Hot Tomato three titles they had in store for naming their 4th record. The titles being: “Shrimp or Prawn” , “Urine Trouble” and “Teenage Stream”. All these titles have a double meaning… and I really hope you can find it out on your own :) And if not, the guys may help you a bit in this video:

1 year since the release of “Get Your Heart On!”

Today, on June 21st, we commemorate the first anniversary of Simple Plan’s 4th studio album called “Get Your Heart On!”.

This album was the first one since their debut record, where Simple Plan used strong collaborations with other artists. On the record, the fans were able to find the voices of Alex Gaskarth from All Time Low on the song Freaking Me Out, of K’Naan on Summer Paradise, of Rivers Cuomo from Weezer on Can’t Keep My Hands Off You and of Natasha Bedingfield and Marie-Mai on the two version of Jet Lag.

Yes, different versions of many songs – that one of the main themes of the past year. The first single – Jet Lag – has been heard in tons of different versions, mostly because of Simple Plan trying to get different ladies in different countries to sing on the song – from Sierra Kusterbeck from VersaEmerge to Kelly Cha with her chinese version of Jet Lag.

Next, we were also to hear a couple version of the song Summer Paradise. After the collaboration with K’Naan, the band decided to release it as a single with another collaboration – this time with the rapper Sean Paul – in two versions – in English and in French. Apart from that, there were many other versions of this song available – including “no rap” or various acoustic ones.

Another song that is also worth mentioning is “This Song Saved My Life”, which was practically created “by fans for the fans”. That’s because while writing, Pierre and Chuck replied on the fans’ tweets about how Simple Plan’s music has helped them throughout the years. This song will also most probably become the last single off this record.

Ever since the beginning the whole album has been described as the “return to the roots” of the band – to the era of their first two albums, and when it came to the critical response, the album has been received mostly positively.

New edition of “Get Your Heart On!” to be released in France

In just a couple of days, Simple Plan’s 4th studio album “Get Your Heart On!” will already celebrate its 1st anniversary. You probably already know that ever since the record’s first edition (the general one, sold in most countries of the world) came out, Simple Plan kept on releasing new versions of many of their songs, most notably Jet Lag and Summer Paradise.

Since the band has recorded the French version of Jet Lag, featuring Marie-Mai, France has had their own special edition for a while, including this particular version of the song as a bonus track.

But as Simple Plan have recently recorded another French variant of one of their songs – this time Summer Paradise (feat. Sean Paul), it was time to update this French edition with a new one. That’s why starting July 2012, the French fans can pick up their new release of Get Your Heart On!, which will most probably include (as bonus tracks) not only the French version of Jet Lag (feat. Marie-Mai) but this time also the French version of Summer Paradise, which has so far only appeared in a physical form as a single (thanks Helene for the info).
