NEW SONG: NOTHING CHANGES

The band has previously teased the release of a new song within the documentary at their shows in Canada last week, where they’ve performed the song ‘Nothing Changes’ live for the first time.

Simple Plan performing ‘Nothing Changes’ for the first time at Festivoix in Trois-Rivières on July 2nd 2025.

In the song, Simple Plan reflect on their journey of growing up on stage — from the highs and lows of life as a rock band to the realization that they’re living the dream they’ve had since the beginning.

Beside the members of Simple Plan, the song lyrics’s credits include some other familiar names including Andrew Goldstein, Travis Clark (We The Kings) or Zakk Cervini.

The song Nothing Changes also received its own music video, released today, featuring a nostalgic look back at the band’s early days and their entire musical journey. Don’t miss it – check it out here:

UNRELEASED DEMOS

While working on the documentary, the members of Simple Plan went through their old archives and uncovered five never-before-heard demo versions of songs they recorded even before their debut album. And you can now listen to them in all their raw beauty!

These songs include:

ONE EXTRA LIVE TRACK

Simple Plan know their fans are suckers for live track, so they could not include one on their documentary’s soundtrack. The chosen song to be recorded live was the fan-favorite ‘Where I Belong’ which they originally recorded as a featuring with State Champs and We The Kings.

Avril Lavigne releases new song “Young & Dumb” feat. Simple Plan

Photo: Skyler Barberio

Ahead of their North American summer tour together On May 9th, Avril Lavigne and Simple Plan released their first ever music collaboration – a song titled ‘Young & Dumb’. Simple Plan are not only featured on the song vocally and musically, but they also contributed to the lyrics: besides Avril Lavigne, the credits of the song also include Pierre Bouvier, Chuck Comeau and John Feldman (who has previously worked with Simple Plan on many occasions).

In the song lyrics, Avril and Simple Plan reminisce of the early 2000s when both artists were just starting out and Avril took Simple Plan as her opening act on the Canadian leg of her ‘Try To Shut Me Up’ tour (2003).

The percussion-driven song hits like a wave of nostalgia and good memories of the good old times as well as being grateful of the fact that even 20 years later, they are still doing what they love.

"What makes it even more meaningful is getting to share this experience with my friends, Simple Plan. It's really a full circle moment because not only did they tour with me last year on the Greatest Hits tour but we also toured together in 2003 on my first arena tour, when I was 18 and touring my first album ‘Let Go’. We were so young, all from small towns in Canada and put our first albums out at the same time. We became friends right away.

A few months ago, I called them up and they joined me in the studio to write ‘Young & Dumb’. We wanted the song to capture the nostalgic feelings of this unique moment in our lives when we were both just starting out and chasing our dreams. We wanted our fans to know that in our hearts, we’re still the same kids we were back then and that our love for music has never changed.

This song is about our friendship and how music has kept us connected all these years. The song is about feeling nostalgic, while loving where you are right now."

Simple Plan cover Elton John’s ‘Can You Feel The Love Tonight’ as a part of a new Disney pop-punk album

Last Friday, June 12th, Simple Plan in collaboration with Disney released the first single off the upcoming Disney album A Whole New Sound, which will feature pop-punk and alternative bands putting their own spin on popular Disney tracks. Simple Plan’s single ‘Can You Feel The Love Tonight’ is a cover of the original 1994 Elton John song, which was famously featured in The Lion King.

Previously, the band has teased some connection with The Lion King in a reel on Instagram as well as at the soundcheck in Saarbrücken, Germany, where they performed this song as a little surprise for the attendees.

Listen to the full cover of ‘Can You Feel The Love Tonight’ by Simple Plan below:

And what did Simple Plan say about this collaboration?

“When Disney reached out to us to be a part of this project, it was a bit overwhelming because there are so many amazing Disney songs. But it became obvious pretty quickly that The Lion King song book, and especially “Can You Feel The Love Tonight,” stood out from the rest. The song just has such a classic feel, and the melodies are so memorable and timeless. We also felt like it would lend itself really well to our style and would sound awesome as a pop-punk version.” [source: Billboard]

“We wanted to pay homage to Sir Elton John’s original version while also adding our own style to it and making it sound fun and energetic. We’re really stoked by how it turned out and we hope everyone will enjoy it.” [source: The Walt Disney Company]

“It’s also one of those songs and movies that has been such an important part of people’s lives. Lots of our fans grew up watching it and listening to the soundtrack and we also played them for our own kids. So, it holds a special place in our hearts and felt like the rare song that could connect to a very wide range of listeners across many generations. Finally, the fact that the movie celebrates its 30th anniversary this year was just the icing on the cake! It’s such an honor to offer our own version of this song and to cover such an iconic artist like Sir Elton John. We’re not sure if he heard the song or not, but we hope he will enjoy this new version and feel like we did it justice.” [source: Billboard]

And this is not nearly the end of Simple Plan’s collaboration with Disney: on August 9th, the band will perform this cover at the D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in Anaheim, CA.
