Simple Plan’s new documentary, that has been in works since the beginning of this year – that we’ve reported on earlier this summer, has been greenlit by Amazon’s Prime Video and it has now been announced that the documentary will be released in the beginning of 2025 on Amazon Prime. We have previously reported about this documentary when Chuck mentioned it in a French interview.
In the official press release by Amazon MGM Studios, it has been revealed that the documentary will be directed by Didier Charette (pictured above to the right of Chuck).
And what does the band have to say about this new documentary?
The documentary is set to chronicle Simple Plan’s career from their beginnings in the late 90s, their rise to global stardom as well as their continued impact on the music industry. According to an article by La Presse, the documentary will show Simple Plan as their most raw, vulnerable and truthful selves.
So far, the members of the band have only seen parts of the upcoming documentary, but they admit that they had experienced moments of discomfort when they saw themselves not always depicted in the best light.
According to La Presse, both Chuck Comeau and Jeff Stinco have confirmed that while the archive footage used in the documentary will include David Desrosiers (who left the band in 2020 following accusations of sexual misconduct), he wasn’t interviewed for the film.
Besides the in-depth interviews with the current members of Simple Plan and lots of never-seen-before footage from the band’s archives, the documentary will also feature new footage from the past year that the band has been filming this documentary on the road.
Many fans will also surely be happy to see some other familiar faces in the documentary, as it will also include new in-depth interviews with other musicians including Mark Hoppus (Blink 182), Avril Lavigne, Dexter Holland & Noodles (The Offspring) and Fat Mike (NOFX), who have had their impact on Simple Plan’s career.
