Simple Plan Foundation announced $280 000 donations to 28 charities this year

At the end of November, Simple Plan (represented there by Chuck, Sebastien and Jeff) held a press conference in Montreal to announce this years donations of their charitable foundation – the Simple Plan Foundation.

The band raises the money for the foundation mainly by donating 1 dollar from every ticket sold for their concerts and 1 dollar from each VIP experience over the yearThis was the first time the band has announced their donations since the pandemic as it has been nearly impossible for them to raise enough funds over the years when performing live shows was quite difficult.

At the press conference, Simple Plan have announced the donations totaling $280 000 that they have pledged to split between 28 charities chosen by the band members themselves. The four vital goals when picking the charities have always been to:

The full list of charities that Simple Plan Foundation is donating money includes organizations that focus on various subjects including: music therapy in hospitals (e.g. purchasing of musical instruments for teenagers hospitalized with cancer), helping children affected by war, music programs for adolescents currently being treated for substance abuse, a health clinic available for migrants that are not covered by any health plan, helping sexually abused children and prevent violence, fighting homophobia among young people, supporting young talented musicians and giving them an opportunity to study music and more.

“The fact that we can use our music and our band and our shows to help is so rewarding. [One of the charitable organizations we chose is] Nova Music, a brand new organization that started about a year ago, and they go into schools and they provide instruments. They try to get young people to join like an orchestra. [Then] there's Garage à Musique here in Montreal that goes into like underprivileged neighbourhoods and provides them with access to music, which is a wonderful. There's Sainte-Justine that uses music [for] musical therapy programs for people that are sick.”

Since its inception in 2005, the Simple Plan Foundation has donated close to 3 million dollars to various charitable organizations.
