Summer Paradise single certified triple platinum in Canada

Simple Plan’s biggest single in the last couple of years – “Summer Paradise” – has been certified triple platinum (for its digital downloads) in Canada on November 12th 2014 by Music Canada. The platinum certification in Canada is being awarded to digital singles, who’s sales reach 80 000 copies sold – for triple platinum that means 240 000 digital copies sold.

This single has previously been certified double platinum in Canada in July 2012 and in Australia in March 2012. It also has a platinum status in Denmark and Italy and gold status in Austria, Germany and Switzerland.

With this certification, “Summer Paradise” has become the 15th digital single in history from a Canadian artist to reach this or higher status. According to Music Canada, the chart of the most sold digital singles from Canadian artists is currently led by Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” (9x platinum), followed by Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” (8x platinum). Other triple platinum singles from Canada include for instance Justin Bieber’s “Boyfriend” and “Baby”, K’Naan’s “Waving Flag”, Young Artists For Haiti’s “Waving Flag” (also featuring Pierre Bouvier) and Hedley’s “Kiss You Inside Out”.
