Janick Thibault, the lead singer of the Canadian band Story Untold (formerly known as Amasic), who recently supported Simple Plan on the U.S. tour in October, released yet another cover of a Simple Plan song yesterday. You may recall Janick covering Simple Plan previously and his videos hitting hundreds of thousands of views – most prominently his covers of ‘Summer Paradise’ and ‘This Song Saved My Life’.
This time around, Janick decided to cover a song from Simple Plan’s second album (Still Not Getting Any) – ‘Perfect World’, which Simple Plan finally brought back to their setlist on the Taking One For The Team tour this year. Check out Janick’s cover below:

After the departure of Matt McCormack, the Canadian band Amasic, has decided to start anew – with new band members and also a new name – Story Untold. If you’ve been following Simple Plan for a while now, you have heard about Amasic many times in the past, as the band’s lead singer Janick Thibault had previously covered a number of Simple Plan songs, became friends with the band, opening for them on a number of occasions, which Janick followed up with song-writing with Pierre and Chuck and even replacing Pierre at the recent show in Canada, which Pierre was not able to attend, due to a health issue.
As SimplePlan.cz has discussed with Janick in our 2014 interview with the lead singer, Janick co-wrote two songs with Pierre and Chuck from Simple Plan – ‘If I Had One Dollar’ and also the song ‘History’, which has never been released before, during the Amasic era. Story Untold, who just announced singing with Hopless Records, have recently released a self-titled EP, which features both of the songs co-written by the members of Simple Plan. ‘History’ even became the band’s first single and an accompanying music video has already been released.
Check out ‘History’, which Chuck and Pierre helped to write, below:
Just a couple weeks ago, the members of Simple Plan joked in the following video from their rehearsals they filmed for the charitable 24h Tremblant event that hopefully there would be no injuries before the show. All that before Pierre started suffering from vocal haemorrhage, after which he was ordered a 3 week vocal rest and therefore could not sing at the event.
Luckily, the band has some great singer-friends, who offered to lend their hand to help out Simple Plan, who were left without a lead singer for the night, and joined them on the stage instead of Pierre. Simple Plan were firstly joined by Canadian singer Marie-Mai, who they normally sing “Jet Lag” with. This time around however, besides “Jet Lag”, Marie-Mai joined in on the lead vocals also on “Jump” and “This Song Saved My Life”.
After Marie-Mai, it was time for SP to invite one of their young friends/fans – Janick Thibault, who started as a YouTuber covering Simple Plan songs and now with his band Amasic often collaborates with SP on various events and even wrote a couple songs with Pierre and Chuck. Janick’s pop-punk voice allowed him to join SP on the songs “Shut Up”, “Can’t Keep My Hands Off You”, “Summer Paradise” (which he previously covered), “Boom” and “I’d Do Anything”.
Another act that replaced Pierre’s vocals for the night was Rémi Chassé, one of the finalists of the Canadian version of The Voice in 2014. Rémi lent his voice to two Simple Plan songs at 24h Tremblant – “Crazy” and “Welcome To My Life”.
The boys were then also helped by Bobby Bazini, a young Canadian singer, who recently even co-wrote songs with Pierre and Chuck from Simple Plan. Bobby sang on two songs as well, performing SP’s new single “I Don’t Wanna Go To Bed” and the classic “I’m Just A Kid”.
And finally it wouldn’t be a proper Simple Plan show, if it didn’t end with “Perfect”. For the Simple Plan anthem, the band was joined by Jonas Tomalty, also known as just Jonas, who is the lead singer of the Canadian rock band “Jonas & The Massive Attraction”. Jonas also joined SP in the middle of the set for “Your Love Is A Lie”.
Check out the whole setlist below along with links to short clips from each performance so you can get a glimpse of what it was like to watch a show without Pierre on the lead vocals:

The guys from the Canadian band Amasic heard about Still Not Getting Any’s 10-year anniversary today and decided to record a cover version of “Welcome To My Life”, one of the most prominent songs from this Simple Plan record. Check out Janick and Matt from Amasic performing this cover below:

In one of his latest tweets, Janick Thibault, the lead singer of the Canadian band Amasic, announced that he recently wrote a brand new song (pressumably for his band) with Simple Plan’s guitarist Sebastien Lefebvre.
This news comes shortly after the release of Amasic’s first EP “The Things We Say”, which features a song co-written by two other members of Simple Plan – Pierre and Chuck – called “If I Had One Dollar”. Janick talked more about this first co-writing session with Simple Plan in a recent SimplePlan.cz interview that you can read here.
This is not Sebastien’s first song-writing session. In the past few years, besides being with Simple Plan, Sebastien has also been involved in song-writing and making music on his own – and also helping other artists by co-writing with them and producing them – usually along with his brother Jay Lefebvre. These artists include Andrée-Anne Leclerc, Audrey Jolin or Wilfred Lebouthillier.
